Here are the fantastic artists you can see performing for you in the 2008 festival.

Big Chief Limping & Screaming Chicken
This is one of the funniest and most thrilling shows we’ve put on for the Festival. Make sure you don’t miss this hysterical, hapless pair of Red Indians put on their knife-throwing, whip-cracking, fire-eating show on the stage at the bottom of the High Street. Big Chief Limping Lizard is an internationally acclaimed circus performer with over 40 years experience of putting on breathtaking shows worldwide. Gasp in disbelief as he throws real knives at his helpless assistant, watch in amazement as he performs fire-eating tricks even he hasn’t tried before, and avert your eyes as a lethal whip is cracked inches from his nose….. This show promises to be the true highlight of the whole event – and is bound to have you in stitches too! AND…. if we can raise over £1000 sponsorship then we hope to persuade our Chairman, Nigel to take the stage and become the knife thrower’s assistant for the final show! If you would like to see this, please pop some change in the buckets that will be going around on the day. All proceeds will be going direct to Marie Curie Cancer Care – a really worthwhile charity. Don’t miss the show!

Rozabella Austen
Normally reserved for shows in the Big Top, the fantastically talented Rozabella Fosset-Austen will be performing an amazing routine on the Trapeze – without a safety net…! We are proud that Roza is a local talent with her roots firmly planted in Cricklade - and she is still only 11 years old! The trapeze will be set up in the St Sampsons School field, which you can reach though the gate near the Doctor’s surgery. Roza has been practising the trapeze since she was just three years old – and you will be truly amazed at her skills. And once her shows are over she will be running workshops so you too can have a go. And her equally talented mum, Michelle, will be there too. A show you must get to!

Jolly & Polly
Jolly and Polly are going to be fun! Watch out for them cruising the High Street in their car. You may have seen Jolly a few times before – he’s always on the TV. Most recently he has been on The Slammer, Britain’s Got Talent and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Famous for his comedy trampolining, this time Jolly will be hopefully be keeping his feet firmly on the ground! Polly is the youngest daughter of Jerry Cottle and has spent her life working in the circus. Like Jolly, she is also an international superstar and has worked just about everywhere! Make sure you don’t miss them – they are fantastic!

Professor Wotnot and Sausage the Clown
And of course there are clowns! Fantastic clowns that will have you in hysterics! Professor Whatnot and Sausage have travelled the world performing their crazy antics and you may have even seen them on TV. They have appeared with Cilla Black on “Surprise, Surprise!” and Bruce Forsyth’s “You Bet”. These two clowns will be wandering the High Street all day, so why not go up and say hello…!
Cricklade Town Band
As usual, the fantastic Cricklade Town Band will be leading the opening parade. We are so lucky to have them on our doorstep, as they are one of the finest brass bands around. The band was originally formed in 1887 and has been performing ever since. They have 30 musicians under their Musical Director - Paul Hewer. The band is invited to play for all types of occasions and pride themselves in being an entertaining concert band. We are sure that you will enjoy them again!
Whistle Cottle
At just 9 years of age, “Whistle” Cottle is the almost the youngest performer that you will see in the festival! But don’t let his age mislead you – he is a phenomenally talented lad. You will find him performing on his unicycle throughout the day – but that’s not all he can do! Watch him juggle and perform with his Diablo - and if you think you can do better, why not have a go??! Whistle will be running unicycle workshops in the school field – and I bet it’s not as easy as he makes it look!
Jack Daniels the Performing Dog!
No doubt he will be the star of the show! He is Cricklade’s very own Jack Daniels and will be on the stage wowing you all with his antics! He is a 5 year old Jack Russell, born and bred in Cricklade and trained by Michelle Austen – don’t miss him!!
The Ringmaster
It wouldn’t be a circus without a ringmaster - and we have one of the world’s finest! David Weekes has been connected with the circus for over 40 years and has worked with all the major circuses including Billy Smarts, Jerry Cottle’s and Fossett’s Circus. David has been involved in all aspects of the circus including a spell in the lion’s cage! David will be wandering the High Street making himself known, so come and say hello to him – he would love to meet you!

Patrick “Junior”
Patrick is another talented member the Austen family. You won’t miss him today – he’ll be 12 feet tall! He has worked alongside the great Jeremy Beadle who was a great fan of the circus, and has even performed in front of Royalty. He can do almost everything in the circus, but today he’ll be wandering the High Street on stilts trying to get to know you all, so make sure you say hello!

Lord Geoffrey
You will have to see Lord Geoffrey to believe him! He is an absolutely fantastic balloon modeller and can make just about anything out of a few balloons! He’ll be setting up at various places in the High Street and will amaze everyone who sees just what he can do!

Tony M
Cricklade’s very own Tony M will once again be providing the music for the festival. He’s here every year and we love him! You can expect tunes you’ll all know, played and sung as only Tony can!

Mr Ray's Jazz Band
Available through the ever popular Fretless & Friends stable of bands, Mr Ray’s Jazz Band will be providing happy, foot-tapping and entertaining jazz including many of your favourite melodies. They will be wandering the High St, and playing in most of the pubs. Wherever they are performing, please don’t hesitate to ask them to play your favourite tune. They will if they can!!
